A Recipe for Living Your Best Life

I love to cook, and one of my favorite things to do in the kitchen is tweak a traditional favorite to create a whole, new unexpected and delicious recipe.

I even approach life with recipes!

And, just like in the kitchen, sometimes this works out really well, other times not so much! Creating a recipe for your best life is bound to have some burnt pots and pans. Having the right ingredients available and on hand is the strongest way to start creating your best life. Here’s my personal list of must have ingredients I use every day to live my best life. I’m so excited to share them with you!

Here’s my personal recipe I’d like to share with you:

Live authentically.

I’m just a regular gal who lives life to its fullest and pursues her passion daily. I’m real, honest, and transparent… what you see is what you get! How can you live authentically?

Choose creativity.

When it comes to being creative, I simply can’t help myself. Picking out my clothes each morning and putting on my makeup is my first creative endeavor of the day! My love of everything creative led to my successful, 30+ year career as an entrepreneur, copywriter, and graphic designer. Of course I love to create in the kitchen, but I also adore crafty projects, home decorating, party planning, and any other excuse I can find to create something from nothing. A little dash of creativity goes a long way.
What does choosing creativity look like for you?

Love learning.

My love of knowledge started as a young girl and was ignited at Culver Academies, where I spent my junior and senior years of highschool. I pursued a degree in Public Relations at Southern Methodist University, and, after graduating, taught myself graphic design.

Later on, I learned how to plan and execute large and small events, lead a women’s ministry, launch and monetize a blog, become a Pinterest expert(link to the pinterest course), and receive my Corporate Consulting Certification. Learning is one ingredient I can’t get enough of and continually add to my ingredient stock. How are you embracing a love of learning?

Encourage and inspire others.

Almost nothing brings me as much joy as encouraging a friend or family member that they have what it takes to pursue their dreams and passions and then sharing the evidence of why that is true! Sometimes people just need to know someone truly believes in them and be reminded of why they are positioned for success. How can you lift up someone in your life today?

Love God, my husband, family, friends and the world.

I think relationship with others is the biggest gift we’ve been given! I’m so thankful for my relationship with God… He has helped me navigate this life full of ups and downs, victories and disappointments! My husband is my best friend… seriously! We have a very tight-knit family and are blessed to be very close to our adult children, Trevor, Patrick and his wife Shandi. We welcomed our first grandchild into the world recently… little River Lee Taber! River’s arrival has added new depth of love I didn’t know before. Tom and I love spending time with our extended family and our many friends across the country. Living life in authentic relationship with others is how Tom and I live our best life ever! Where can you add love to your recipe for your best life?

Be adventurous.

In my experience, adding adventure can improve your overall health. It’s why is a core ingredient in my recipe for my best life. I learned to be adventurous when I was just 16 years old and decided to go off to college-prep school in Indiana, far away from my home state of Louisiana. A few years later I again made an adventurous move. At age 22, I moved myself from Texas to California where I didn’t know a single person!

A month later, I met my soulmate, and we’ve been on an adventure ever since! From Orange County to Denver to Austin to San Antonio to Palm Desert and San Diego… all moves we made during Tom’s career with Marriott. It wasn’t always easy, but I cherish the adventure of practicing my best life recipe in a new place. Each new adventure has given me the opportunity to meet new people who add even more adventure to my life. What does adventure look like for you?

Chase hard after big dreams.

One thing I’ve learned is to never think a dream is too big to pursue. Time and time again, Tom and I have had a dream that seemed impossible only to find it quickly become reality in a way we never anticipated! I believe God LOVES to delight us in both big ways and small, but we have to pursue our dreams for Him to bring them to life! Dreaming big is the first step of creating my beautiful life. Our next big dream is to live full time on our boat. You can follow that journey here (link to waitlist).
